Speaking On Industry Panels

Panelist

Learn how to shine during panel discussions by confidently sharing your vision and articulately describing the trends you are seeing from your desk to a targeted audience.

You will learn how to:

  • Tell a compelling story at the open of the panel that engages the audience.
  • Politely interject and add your point of view when one panelist is permitted to dominate the discussion.
  • Build professional alliances by referring to comments made by other panelists during the conversation.
  • Navigate difficult or unfair questions from the moderator by transitioning back to your main messages.
  • Handle questions from the audience with confidence and grace.
  • Use body language to appear more confident on stage and on screen.
  • End on a high note by delivering a soundbite during your last answer.

Moderator

While moderating a panel appears straight-forward to an observer, keeping an on-stage discussion lively and engaging requires extensive preparation. An effective moderator knows how to draw the most relevant industry knowledge out of each panelist and understands that proper pacing is a crucial to the success of the conversation.

These skills can all be learned. In a four-hour workshop, a professional moderator will guide you through several practice rounds in front of a camera.

You will learn how to:

  • Conduct pre-interviews with panelists.
  • Deliver effective introductions.
  • Organize information and questions so you can easily recall them while on stage.
  • Politely interrupt a panelist who is dominating the discussion.
  • Time the progression of the conversation so the audience does not lose interest.
  • Handle questions from the audience.
  • Summarize the key takeaways.
  • Wrap up the panel and throw back to the emcee.
